About EHOS

WHO WE ARE

East Herts Operatic Society, known as EHOS, has been entertaining local audiences since 1960. A growing list of past productions charts the company’s history and success from its start with Gilbert and Sullivan productions in local schools to more varied work.

In 1967 EHOS was the first group to put on a musical at the new Broxbourne Civic Hall, performing 'The Gypsy Baron' to full houses. The society produces two shows a year in March and September covering a wide variety of musical theatre to cover tastes.

Since 1991 the society has had a thriving youth section New Expressions which has over 40 members between the ages of 6 and 16.

MEMBERSHIP

Membership includes the opportunity to take part in upcoming productions, social events, the chance to make new friends and learn new skills, as well as receiving our monthly newsletter and access to both our Yahoo and Facebook EHOS member groups.

To be eligible to join the EHOS Adult section you must be at least 16 years of age. To audition and be in the cast of a production you must be a member of the Society.
The annual membership fee is £25.00. Your first annual subscription is payable on joining and is renewable on 1st October annually thereafter.
A Production Fee of £50.00 per show is payable by any Member who appears in the cast of any show. This will be reduced at the discretion of the production team and Committee for smaller scale productions.
Either production fee will be due by 1st December for the March show and 1st June for the September show.
Failure to pay by these dates will result in you being expelled from the cast.

Other Costs
If you are in the cast of a production the Society will normally supply all costumes that you will require. However, you may be asked to provide certain accessories and your own footwear.
You will also be required to purchase or hire a script and score for each production for your own use during rehearsals.

Friends of EHOS
We also offer a membership for those who simply wish to support the Society, receive advanced notice of our shows and our regular Newsletter, and also attend our social functions. The annual subscription fee is £10.00 per person.

Sponsors
It is becoming increasingly difficult to fund our shows and sell tickets as costs continue to rise. Therefore, additional income is always welcome through sponsorship. If there is any way you feel as an individual you can offer help, or if you are a local company who can provide publicity, advertising, materials, e.t.c., our Chairman would love to hear from you.

If you would like to become a member of EHOS or have questions about joining us, feel welcome to contact us for further information. You will be sent details on forthcoming productions and auditions as well as other exciting EHOS news.
