EHOS’s production of Calendar Girls closed their three packed performances to roaring applause.
The cast of this show must feel a little bittersweet that it is now all over! The Play takes both audience and actors on an emotional rollercoaster, from hilarious highs to somber lows and as such, was considerably exhasting to perform.
The audition results presented the EHOS Production team with a unique cast – A balanced mixture of actors from EHOS, Hoddesdon Players, Broxbourne Theatre Company, and beyond!
The need for a more mature variety of performers than we usually require; lead to an interesting group. Not only were the six principle ladies tasked with learning lines and stage directions; but they also had to get to know each other!
But getting to know your fellow performers in a play such as Calender Girls is nothing like a Baptism of Fire! This made the intimate ‘nude’ scenes all the more daunting, but quite a bonding experience at the same time.
Amatuer Theatre is all about two main aspects. One is for the sheer love of all theatre and performance, and the chance to act on stage. The other is the socialising element. And it was wonderful to witness the ‘EHOS ethos’ of fun rehearsals with screeches of laughter at even the most poignent moments! Luckily, by the time opening night came around, the giggles had been shelved!
Everyone involved can be hugely proud of themselves as Calendar Girls became the highest grossing show that EHOS have ever put on in their 50 year history! Especially because the show raised money for charity!
A huge Thank-You to all who were invlolved with the production, and also to everyone who came to see the show – You can be proud that you have done your bit!
Extra congratulations must finally go to the six brave ladies that bared much more than usual to hundreds of people over the three evenings!
Kate Muir, Sue Finn, Rachel Green, Joy Mather, Suzanne Austin, and Alex Rolle – You were braver than many and carried the show with true aplomb! A fantastic team! EHOS hopes you enjoyed the moment.
